Trailing edge and leading edge
There are different types of dimmer, namely trailing edge dimmers and leading edge dimmers. Trailing edge and leading edge are two dimming techniques. LED lighting works best with trailing edge dimmers. Leading edge dimmers are more suitable for halogen and energy saving lamps. When an LED lamp is installed on a leaving edge dimmer, the lamp cannot be dimmed completely. You will also experience flickering light.
